Tixel Eyelid Lift for Dry Eye Disease

Dry eyes are caused by an imbalance in the composition of tears or in the quantity of tears produced. The imbalance often originates in the meibomian glands that produce oil that helps keep tears from evaporating.

The Tixel eyelid treatment is performed on the both the superior and inferior eyelids above the meibomian glands that are adjacent to the eyelid rim. The healing process helps revitalize the meibomian glands, which in turn helps improve the quality of the tear film.

There have been several studies that demonstrate Tixel Eyelid Lift treatment is safe and effective for improving Dry Eye Disease symptoms. In this study published in 2023, 74 participants with periorbital wrinkles and moderate to severe dry eye disease (DED) received three Tixel treatments at 2-week intervals. There were no adverse events, no change in vision observed.

Tixel treatment was both clinically and statistically significant with improvement in the dry eye disease by a reduction of 21.40 of the OSDI index, non-invasive tear break-up time improved by 2.12, and tear osmolarity reduced from 299.8  to 298.8 mOsm/L following the Tixel treatments.

Tixel treatments are exceptionally tolerable with numbing cream, and there’s virtually no downtime. Results continue to improve as new collagen forms over the next six weeks or so.

How Tixel Treatments Work

Tixel Treatment Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect during a Tixel treatment?

If your treatment is for an eye lift or full face treatment, numbing cream is applied for 30 to 45 minutes. Tixel treatments are so tolerable numbing is not required for other treatment areas.

During the treatment, the heated plate in the machine handpiece touches the skin for a fraction of a second, delivering a short burst of heat to create a controlled injury.

Once the treatment area(s) have been covered with two passes, either a medical grade Growth Factor Solution or Exosomes are massaged into the treated skin to help accelerate the healing process and boost results.

What Should I Expect After a Tixel Treatment?

After a Tixel treatment, skin is slightly red and may be a little swollen for 3 to 4 hours. There may be a heat sensation somewhat like a mild sunburn for 2 to 3 hours. Downtime is 0 to 5 days, depending on your treatment intensity.

The day after a Tixel treatment make-up can cover up any micro-crusting or pin dot scabs that will naturally fall off in a few days. Optimal results are visible at 4 to 6 weeks post-treatment.

Tixel technology is not laser or radiofrequency. Tixel technology is pure heat, so it can be used on all skin types.
