Hyperpigmentation Treatments
Hyperpigmentation refers to areas of skin that become darker in comparison to its natural color. It can be brown, tan, deep red, gray, black, or even purple depending on skin tone.
Hyperpigmentation is usually caused by sun damage, melasma, and/or post-iInflammatory hyperpigmentation. There are many effective skin rejuvenation treatments that can fade and even erase hyperpigmentation.
These treatments your body’s ability to repair and restore your skin with bioactives that stimulate new collagen production and help improve skin function at a cellular level.
Sun Damage
Sun damage, also known as photoaging, occurs when exposure to the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) radiation breaks down the skin’s connective tissue.
This triggers uneven melanin production, the protein that is responsible for skin color, resulting in concentrated areas of pigment that appear as brown spots on the skin.
Melasma Treatments
Melasma, because it is caused by hormones and UV light, is a special kind of hyperpigmentation. It usually looks like darker freckle-like spots or blotchy discolored patches.
Melasma is one of the most common and one of the difficult skin conditions to treat.
Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH)
PIH occurs when irritated or injured skin produces too much melanin, the protein that gives skin its color. It is caused by the way the skin regenerates after inflammation or injury. Acne is a common cause of PIH.
